LAW 998: Government and Religion Seminar

This course explores issues in the law governing the relationship between religion and the state. It begins with the Establishment Clause, covering a range of topics that include religious expression in public schools and financial aid to religious organizations. It then turns to the Free Exercise Clause, with emphasis on the treatment of generally applicable laws that burden free exercise of religion. Finally, it addresses a subject that in some sense joins the two Religion Clauses -permissive accommodation of religious exercise. Enrollment limited. [3 credit hours]
