Undergraduate
Dartmouth College

"After clerking for the Federal District of Puerto Rico after my 1L year, I knew that I wanted to apply for a federal clerkship after graduation, and Vanderbilt facilitated the entire application process.”
Long-term career goal
Law professor
Why he chose Vanderbilt
“It has the best mix of quality of life and academics.”
Publications
“My article, ‘Giving Amnesties a Second Chance,’ will be published in the Fall 2006 Berkeley Journal of International Law. The article argues that we should reconsider the benefits that amnesties for serious violations of international law provide. I propose a balancing test for weighing the costs and benefits of amnesties and apply this test to the recent amnesties enacted in Colombia and Algeria.”
Career track
“After my clerkship, I’ll try to get a one-year position at the International Criminal Court or the International Criminal Tribunal for Yugoslavia. I’d like to practice international law for a couple of years before attempting to enter the legal academy.”
Liked most about VULS
“The professors are extremely committed to teaching.”
Between undergraduate and law school
“I worked for a company in Alexandria, Egypt, that exports fruits and vegetables to Scandinavia.”
Most valuable experience
Being editor-in-chief of the Law Review
Life in Nashville
“Nashville is great. It has all the amenities of a big city, good nightlife, professional sports, nice restaurants, but it’s more livable than many other big cities.”
