Career Services at Vanderbilt Law School

Vanderbilt Law School’s Career Services program excels in placing our well-trained lawyers in public- and private-sector positions at law firms, government offices and organizations throughout the United States. Vanderbilt’s national reputation affords our graduates a wide array of geographic options as well as professional opportunities within and beyond the practice of law. And Vanderbilt’s students are in high demand for their outstanding legal training, combined with the interpersonal and other important professional skills they develop during law school.

  • In 2007, 94% of graduating students had accepted jobs before graduation.
  • 7.6 % of Vanderbilt’s 2007 graduates chose positions in the public service and government sectors.
  • Virtually all of our graduates are employed within six months after graduation.
  • During summer 2007, Vanderbilt law students worked in 36 states, the District of Columbia, and in 12 foreign countries.
  • Ashley Jones Johnson, a 2004 Vanderbilt Law graduate, clerked for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas during the 2005-06 term.
