Dawn Deaner serves as a Floater for the Metropolitan Public Defender's Office, representing individuals charged with serious felony offenses in all of the Criminal Courts of Davidson County. She also assists in training new lawyers. She previously worked in the Department of Law for Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson Country, representing the department and its employees in state and federal courts in lawsuits dealing with a wide range of issues, including civil rights, negligence and employment discrimination, as well as advising the Police Department and Sheriff's Office on legal issues. She is a member of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and won the organization's Robert W. Ritchie Award for Outstanding Service in 2002.
