Judge Joe Brown was appointed U.S. Magistrate Judge in 1998. Before his appointment to the bench, he served in the U.S. Attorney General’s office in Nashville, ultimately as U.S. Attorney. In 1991, Judge Brown was appointed a Special Assistant U.S. Trustee and served as the National Coordinator for Bankruptcy Fraud for the U.S. Trustee program.

At Vanderbilt Law School, Judge Brown teaches Pretrial Litigation.
