Klinton W. Alexander concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, government affairs and international law. He received his Bachelor’s degree in History from Yale University (1991) and earned his Masters (1994) and Doctorate (1997) in International Relations from the University of Cambridge in England. He subsequently received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Virginia Journal of International Law.
Professor Alexander served as a law clerk to United States Court of Appeals Chief Judge Boyce F. Martin, Jr. During the first years of the Clinton Administration, he served as an assistant to former U.S. Secretary of Defense, Harold Brown; he later worked as a trade fellow in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, where he directed the WTO Trade Policy Review Program and served as the U.S. Trade Representative to the World Customs Organization in Brussels for the First Session of the Technical Committee on Rules of Origin.
Professor Alexander is the author of several articles and book chapters. He is a member of the District of Columbia, Tennessee and Kentucky Bar Associations.
At Vanderbilt Law School, Professor Alexander teaches International Trade and Human Rights.
