Mark Edwards has served in the legal department of HCA Inc., a major for-profit hospital company headquartered in Nashville, since 1990, and currently serves as the company's chief labor and employment counsel. Professor Edwards began his career as a Captain and Assistant Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force, serving from 1975-79, and then practiced employment law for more than 10 years with Fisher & Phillips and Ford & Harrison in Atlanta before joining HCA's legal department. He earned his law degree at Vanderbilt, where he was executive editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review, after graduating with highest distinction from the University of Iowa. He is admitted to practice before the United State Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, Ninth, Eleventh and D.C. Circuits; and before numerous U.S. District Courts.
