His exhaustive investigations of airplane safety, police corruption and crooked charities have won numerous national journalism awards. Professor Stern’s op-eds and analyses have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune and The New Republic, to name a few.
At Vanderbilt Law School, Professor Stern teaches Methods and Ethics of Information Gathering.
