Frequently Asked Questions: Student OrganizationsAt VULS, Student Organizations bring in prestigious speakers, hold informal meetings and special events, organize fundraisers, charity drives, and other creative ventures. These are just some of the ways in which students contribute to our community. Following are some questions that most student leaders have at some point during their tenure. Book a Room "How Do I Book a Room?"1) Visit the room reservation webpage, roomreq.law.vanderbilt.edu. 2) "Browse Events" or "Browse for Space" to determine if the time and date works well or conflicts with other events. 3) Create an account or log in. 4) Under the "Reservations" tab, click "Room Request" and complete the form, then click "Search". On the left side of the resulting list, check the box by the room you would like to reserve and complete the rest of the form. *Note: 48 hours notice is required for online reservation. Please e-mail us for all other arrangements. Searching for Conflicts There is a coding for “major events” in the event reservation system. You can access a list of major events with the following steps: -Click “Browse Events”

"How do I publicize an event or congratulatory message on the commons television monitors?"Please make an announcement on the Intranet Student Bulletin Board. You may attach a text-only powerpoint slide or a flyer.
"How do I get the media to notice my event?"Amy Wolf of Vanderbilt University Public Affairs will work with you to create a press pak and help obtain media attention. Events with a broad audience or interesting themes can be positive press for your organization and the law school. Grace Renshaw can also work with you on communications within the law school network of students, staff and alumni.
"Can I obtain additional funding if my organization's budget is not sufficient for the events we are planning?"Yes, through several avenues: Co-sponsoring with another organization within the law school, a related organization within the university, or an outside source; the Hyatt Fund; and VBA's supplemental funding. |
