The Black Law Students Association is one of the most involved and engaged student organizations at Vanderbilt Law School. The organization was formed to:

  • Articulate and promote the professional needs and goals of African-American law students;
  • Foster and encourage professional competence;
  • Focus on the African-American attorney's relationship to the American legal structure;
  • Instill in the African-American attorney and law student a greater awareness of and commitment to the needs of the African-American community;
  • Influence American law schools, legal fraternities, and legal associations to use their expertise and prestige to make the legal system responsive to the needs of the African-American community; and
  • Do any and all things necessary and lawful for the accomplishment of these purposes.

The Vanderbilt chapter of BLSA sponsors community service initiatives, academic excellence workshops, scholarly lectures, and much more. Our members are a diverse group of talented students from dozens of undergraduate institutions. We are always eager to meet prospective students and give any advice or information regarding the Vandy Law School experience. Please peruse our website and learn more about our members and chapter initiatives. Please don't hesitate to contact any of us with questions or concerns.
